OVERSEE

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Oversee ("we," "us," "our") is a construction project management application for general contractors, subcontractors, superintendents, project owners, and tenants. This policy explains what information Oversee collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (or Sign in with Apple / Google credential) when you register.
  • Organization information — company name, project addresses, client names, and other details you enter when creating projects.
  • Content you create — daily logs, RFIs, submittals, punch list items, inspection reports, tasks, budget and financial data (contracts, pay applications, draw requests, invoices, change orders), schedules, meeting notes, chat messages, and drawing markups.
  • Photos and files — job-site photos, drawings, and documents you upload. Photos are selected through Apple's native photo picker, which does not give Oversee access to your full photo library — only the specific images you choose.
  • Voice recordings — if you use voice-to-log, your voice note is transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework to fill in daily log fields.
  • Billing information — if your organization subscribes to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Oversee never receives or stores your card number; we store only your subscription tier, billing interval, renewal date, and a Stripe-assigned customer reference.
  • Connected third-party accounts — if you connect Dropbox or Google Drive to import files, we store an access token (via each provider's OAuth flow) scoped to read the files you choose to import. We never see your Dropbox or Google account password.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — which screens you visit within the app, used only to understand product usage. Oversee does not use any advertising or ad-tracking SDK.
  • Crash and diagnostic data — if the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect a stack trace and device/OS information via Firebase Crashlytics to fix bugs.
  • Push notification tokens — if you allow notifications, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver alerts about your projects.

Information we do not collect

  • Oversee does not access your precise device location. Weather data shown on a project is looked up from the project's street address, not your device's GPS.
  • Oversee does not access your contacts, calendar, or full photo library.
  • Oversee does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the core service: storing and syncing your projects, tasks, and documents across your devices.
  • To send notifications you're entitled to see (assignments, mentions, approvals needed, overdue items) via push notification and in-app.
  • To power the AI Assistant: when you ask a question, it queries your project's own data (scoped to your project membership) to answer — your questions and the data used are sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI does not use this data to train their models under our API agreement.
  • To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent misuse.

How we share your information

  • Within your organization — content you create is visible to other members of your organization and project according to their role and permissions.
  • Service providers — Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics) hosts substantially all app data; OpenAI processes AI Assistant queries and photo-analysis/voice-transcription requests you initiate; Stripe processes subscription payments for organizations on a paid plan; Dropbox and Google Drive are accessed only if you explicitly connect them, solely to import files you select.
  • We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with data brokers or advertisers.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Oversee or our users.

Data retention and deletion

  • Your data is retained for as long as your account and organization remain active.
  • You can permanently delete your account from More → Account → Delete Account in the app. This is a hard, irreversible deletion of your profile and access; associated project data owned by your organization may be retained per your organization's own record-keeping needs.
  • Crash logs are retained per Firebase Crashlytics' standard retention window.
  • Billing records (subscription tier, payment history, invoices) are retained by Stripe per their own data retention practices and applicable tax/accounting record-keeping law, independent of when you delete your Oversee account.
  • If you disconnect Dropbox or Google Drive, we delete the stored access token immediately; files already imported into Oversee remain (they're now your organization's own Oversee data) unless separately deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Contact us at oversee.support@gmail.com to exercise these rights. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA; EU/UK residents may have additional rights under the GDPR.

Children's privacy

Oversee is a professional construction-industry tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or 16, where applicable). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted data in transit (TLS) and at rest (Firebase default encryption), role-based access control enforced by server-side security rules, and per-organization data isolation.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email before they take effect.
